Plot:
In a novelties store, Kelly buys a Chinese girl a pair of sunglasses since she lacks the money. In return, she gives him a ring, which is later discovered to be worth a small fortune.
She is supposed to be the Empress of China but is actually an unwitting tool for American fund raising by Red Chinese agents, who are posing as part of the girl's father's entourage... and when the father gets suspicious over recent activities, Scott and Kelly are compelled to find out the truth...

D. P. Cole's most memorable
scene and/or quote:
The scene where Kelly and Scott are given the opportunity to whip their pursuers to death. The banter and ultimate turn-down (as if Scott and Kelly would actually do this!) is wonderful.

D. P. Cole's review and rating:
This is another very good story despite a couple of minor issues, most notably Scotty's uncharacteristic tactic of playing with a "Jack in the box" toy and going on and on about how 4 year olds need to be scared because it makes 'em aggressive when they get older... France Nuyen, once again, proves what a versatile actress she is, and if you want a non-"I Spy" reference go watch Star Trek's "Elan of Troyious" of which she guest stars in. Wonderful actress.
The plot itself is reasonable enough and does manage to provide all the elements needed in a good "I Spy" story: Intrigue, appropriate humor, and good dialogue. It's still season 3 so it is somewhat lightweight, but it still is quite good.
Oddly enough, every time the name "General Cheng" (not the Empress) is mentioned, thoughts of "Star Trek VI" enter my mind. Don't ask me why, they just do.
It still comes across feeling authentic Chinese despite the fact it was entirely filmed in San Francisco.
