Plot:
Kelly has dropped out for a zest of life with his newfound love interest, Irena. Unknown to him, Irena is under the [blackmailed] employ of the rather nasty Sorgi, who our guys have met before. Scotty comes in to investigate and discovers Sorgi's frightening scheme: to surreptitiously get Kelly under the influence of a drug and then tear the supply away from him, which in turn will [hopefully] get him to disclose information about himself and his organization -- and then Sorgi intends to break him to induce depression and suicide. But problems become more complicated as Kelly and Irena disappear to a remote house, with a rather strong "maid" named Melina... will Scotty get there in time? Or is time out for Kelly?

D. P. Cole's review and rating:
Once again, Sheldon Leonard pulls off the character Sorgi with great grace and elegance. He truly is an impressive villain who comes across as being terribly evil yet graceful and charming at the same time! Interestingly enough, Barooda reminds me of Sorgi... significant, perhaps? Anyway, the plot potential is absolutely chilling and downright frightening. Sorgi has blackmailed the girl, Irena, to trick Kelly into becoming a drug addict (in the form of ouzo) in order to extract information from him once the supply of that drug is halted. This is quite possibly the best "drugs are bad" story presented in the mid-late 1960s due to its straight-forwardness and clarity of the danger involved (thanks to Sorgi).
Unfortunately, Melina doesn't come across very well. She was convincing initially when she attacked Scotty. But for Scotty to easily tie her up instantly blows away the menace. (this scene apparently occurs concurrently with the scene where Irena and her precious Kelly are on the sofa...) And in all honesty, something about her looks wrong. Then I saw the credits, this anti-feminine Melina is actually a guy (in credits, anyway)!!!
Worse, for the first 1.5 acts I didn't notice Kelly was under the influence of anything, let alone a nasty mind-bending concoction. I mean, that was naturally Kelly. Depending on the chick, he'd have quit.
And he usually likes to drink as we're periodically led to believe from Scotty, so I accepted Kelly for being his usual self - finally presented on screen. Once the effects of ouzo start to make themselves obvious do we know something is wrong but it took too much time for that to become apparent. Basically, this problem is timing and/or writing but it is so minor, I'll forgive it.
And is it just me, or did Sheldon Leonard take a vacation in Greece since we see him sun tanning most of the time wearing silly goggles. Still, this is nitpicky fanboy cannon fodder.
