D. P. Cole's review and rating:
I was expecting a lot since Jean Marsh (a known British actress) was part of the case and because Robert Culp wrote it.
The first 20 minutes are exceptionally fetching, but the remainder is absolutely boring. There is nothing in this story which really is "I Spy" material. It makes a nice little cozy 51 minute epic, but it does not feel like "I Spy" and that is the problem that I've got with it. It's almost too dark, considering what happens to the characters at the end. However, there are worthy plots and twists.
Culp made a bold move with the make-up, which actually works, but would not be tolerated in today's day and age.
Robert Culp plays the War Lord. Although the facial make-up is impressive and convincing and his falsetto voice almost as convincing (the voice broke his cover), we never get a split-screen between the War Lord and Kelly. This was irritating!
It would be a classic, except it is not "I Spy". Still, it was worth trying and it is not an actual waste of time (that's why we have "To Florence with Love").
